One Year Up-Stairs

In November, I had plans for working on a craft office in our garage to celebrate my jump into a woodworking business adventure, but life happened, and I found myself away from the online world until recently.  I'm back in time to celebrate our move-in anniversary with you, as April 7 will mark the end of our first year living in our own space, all 600 square feet of it. :)

With Spring Break behind me and summer dangling ahead like a carrot, the burden of life has been gently lifted and the remodeling bug has hit me again when I was offered an opportunity to build pieces for a community college reading nook (more on that to come). I had to abandon my craft office plans temporarily for use as a storage space (again), but I've started work on a new space: the garage entry/mudroom/stairwell "foyer," the place that we pass through everyday, the space that has been the most neglected.

Here's a few "before" shots of our main passageway:

It's funny how neglect works; how we sometimes pay little mind to the passageways, to the white spaces, the places in-between. And yet, they can be critical to our v-i-e-w, shaping the way we see things, the way we  u n d e r s t a n d  them. I have a $50 budget for our little through-way. I'm hoping to make it pleasing to the eye, but also effective in helping me get out the door in an organized, efficient manner, and less like the "I've been looking for my shoes for 10 minutes and I think I have paint on my pants" look that I don frequently.

I look forward to another year living on the sunny side!

  2. It's so nice to see you again Yvonne! I understand that whole "life getting in the way of blogging" thing too, I haven't been blogging as much the last few months but hoping to at least get a post in weekly. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this little space. Aloha, Sharon
