This week, I finally hung the first acrylic painting on canvas I made for my daughter's room. I spent $14 on two canvases from Wal-Mart and some basic acrylic paint colors to depict a tree with polka-dotted grass, bulls-eye fruit, and a patterned little bird. I used an EXPO pen that wipes off my wall fairly easily (when wet) to mark where I wanted to hammer small nails into the wall for temporary placement. Then I hung both lightweight canvases. For my daughter's 4th birthday, I plan to use a silver or gold permanent marker to "carve" her height and age into the tree trunk. Instead of marking a door jamb, I like how we'll be able to move her growth chart and use it as artwork at the same time.

This is adorable! And I love that it would be easy to take with if you ever move :) I was just watching my middle one try and reach something on the counter and thinking that I NEED to have a growth chart for them, I have never seen one on canvas, this is perfect! Thanks for the great idea :)
